On July 17, 2012, EPA Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order to initiate and simultaneously resolve an administrative action filed under Section 313 of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 with North Star Casteel Products, Inc. EPA alleged that North Star Casteel Products, Inc., a foundry located in Seattle, Washington, failed to submit timely Toxic Chemical Release Inventory Reporting Forms for chromium compounds and manganese compounds for calendar years 2006 through 2010. North Star Casteel Products, Inc. has agreed to pay a penalty of $87,000.
