On June 1, 2012, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Sections 308 and 309 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to Quanico Oil and Gas, Inc. (Quanico) located in Union County, Arkansas. The AO was issued in response to violation of Section 301 of the CWA. The AO requires Quanico to: 1) cease all discharges of pollutants from the facility; 2) remove all brine from the flow path located in between the facility and the identified tributary of Salt Creek; 3) remove all brine from the tributary of Salt Creek, located at Latitude 33° 14.670 North and Longitude 92° 35.550 West, which were discharged from the facility; and 4) submit written certification. Quanico must respond to EPA Region 6 within 30 days of receiving the AO.
