## Summary

Site consists of property owned by Stepan Company and the Federal government (the Maywood Interim Storage Site or MISS).  This Operable Unit 2 Record of Decision was based on a RI/FS conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers under the FUSRAP program.  On July 5, 2012 a ROD was issued to address groundwater contaminated with lithium, benzene and arsenic.  The ROD requires removal of contaminated soils, conduct of bench/pilot scale studies and in-situ treatment of contaminated groundwater.

An Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD), signed on May 14, 2021,  incorporated the Phase 1 properties that were investigated and partially remediated before the August 19, 2003 FUSRAP Soils and Buildings ROD for (OU1) and discovered during the implementation of the ROD; and increase volume and cost estimates from the FUSRAP 2003 Soils and Buildings ROD.
