THIS IS NOT A CLOSED CASE.  WORK IS STILL BEING PERFORMED    PURSUIT TO UAO V-W-98-C-486 DATED JULY 22, 1998.             MARINA CLIFFS BARREL DUMP SITE IS AN INACTIVE WOOD AND STEEL DRUM MANUFACTURING, REPAIR AND RECONDITIONING BUSINESS.      FORMERLY LOCATED ON 18 ACRES ON THE SHORELINE OF LAKE        MICHIGAN IN THE CITY OF SOUTH MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.  THE     SITE HAS ADJACENT RESIDENTIAL HOUSING.  IN 1985, THE SITE    WAS DISCOVERED BY THE WDNR.  DRUMS WERE SEEN AT THE SITE     STACKED AND PARTLY SUBMERGED IN SOIL.  THERE INCLUDED        EVIDENCE OF ILLEGAL DUMPING OF VARIOUS DEBRIS.  THE CURRENT  OWNER, TOWNE REALDY PURCHASED THE PROPERTY IN THE 1980S.     AT THAT TIME, IT WAS ESTIMATED THAT THE DRUMS HAD BEEN       BURIED IN PITS AT THE SITE SOME 40 TO 50 YEARS.  REMOVAL     OF THE DRUMS BEGAN IN EARNEST IN 1991.  THE WORK WAS CON-    DUCTED BY TOWNE REALTY.  CURRENTLY, THROUGH EVIDENTIARY      SUCCESSION, OVER 100 RESPONDENTS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AS THEIR POTENTIAL LIABILITY.  A PRP GROUP NOW REPRESENTS AND HAS     CATEGORIZED MOST OF THE PRP.  REMOVAL ACTIONS NOT ADDRESS    IN A PREVIOUS UAO ARE NOW UNDERWAY AT THE SITE.
