The U.S. EPA alleged that PVS Chemical Solutions (PVS) stored approximately 5,200 gallons of corrosive hazardous waste, in an out-door tank system, for over 20 years, without applying for and obtaining a hazardous waste storage permit; and without: (1) providing the tank with secondary containment, (2) assessing the tank system's structural integrity, (3) without documenting daily inspections of the tank system, (4) withoug having a hazardous waste contingency plan, and (5) withoug having a hazardous waste training program for facility personnel. EPA also alleged that PVS failed to follow the regulatory procedures for making hazardous waste determinations on several solid waste streams. The violations were detected during an EPA inspection in May 2007.
