On March 26, 2013, Region 10 filed an Expedited Settlement Agreement (ESA) with Coeur Alaska Inc. Kensington Gold Mine to address Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) violations at its facility approximately 45 miles north of Juneau, AK. The violations involved failure to comply with used oil management and hazardous waste manifest requirements. Under the terms of the agreement, Coeur Alaska Inc. Kensington Gold Mine certified that it has corrected the RCRA violations and agreed to pay a $7,500 civil penalty.
