On January 17, 2013, approximately 2,500 gallons of diesel fuel oil discharged from a tanker truck owned by Diesel Direct. The tanker completely emptied its contents/oil onto the road and into the townÂs stormwater sewer system which drains to wetlands and an unnamed tributary to the Quinnipiac River. The driver of the truck was cited for traveling unreasonable fast in light of road conditions by the townÂs police department. The company responded promptly to the spill and has incurred over $250,000 in clean-up costs.
