On September 26, 2013, Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with the Central Region of the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT & PF), the owner and operator of 18 motor vehicle waste disposal wells located at maintenance facilities across the Central Region of Alaska. Motor vehicle waste disposal wells were required to be closed throughout Alaska by January 1, 2005. The CAFO requires that ADOT & PF close the 18 wells by December 2018 and to pay a $115,000 penalty for its delay in closing the wells.
