The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency inspected the Electro-Max, Inc. on August 2, 2011, and referred that matter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for enforcement on September 27, 2011. The violations included: (1) storage of hazardous waste for greater than 90 days without a permit; (2) failure to clearly label and date containers of hazardous waste and used oil (3) failure to maintain adequate aisle space; and (4) failure to conduct weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas. In response to the alleged violations, Electro-Max agreed to enter into a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with the EPA. The CAFO requires Electro-Max to pay a penalty of $28,242 in four installments.
