On February 26, 2014, Region 10 settled with Fleishmann's Vinegar for violations of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) for failing to file its annual Tier II chemical inventory reports with the State Emergency Response Commission, the Local Emergency Planning Committee, and the local Fire Department for storage of 304,000 pounds of 95% ethyl alcohol, 2,575 pounds of sodium hydroxide, and 3,500,000 pounds of acetic acid (vinegar) on site. The company agreed to pay a penalty of $15,600 and a supplemental environmental project in which the company will spend $109,069 to design and construct a secondary containment system for its hazardous chemicals.
