This entered consent decree resolves the CERCLA cost recovery claims of the United States and the State of New Jersey against the Defendant or the Woodbrook Road Dump Superfund Site in the Borough of South Plainfield, Middlesex County, New Jersey. The settlement represents the Woodbrook Site portion of a single ability to pay settlement that also resolves EPA Region 1�s claims against the Defendant for the New Bedford Harbor Superfund Site in a separate consent decree that was entered in the District of Massachusetts on March 21, 2023. The Defendant's total $8 million settlement payment will be split evenly between the Woodbrook Site and the NBH Site, i.e., $4 million will be paid to settle the claims of Region 2, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and the Department of the Interior for the Woodbrook Site and $4 million will be paid to settle claims of Region 1 and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the NBH Site.
