On April 11, 2014, Region 9 finalized a Consent Agreement and Final Order with BarkenÂs Hard
Chrome, Inc. for alleged violations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) at its facility in Compton, California. The Respondent will pay a penalty of $28,100 in settlement of the following violations of the RCRA program: 1)failure to maintain and operate a facility to minimize the possibility of a release of hazardous
waste; 2) failure to comply with hazardous waste tank requirements; 3) failure to have a fire
extinguisher and decontamination equipment in the hazardous waste storage area; 4) failure to
have a complete contingency plan; and 5) failure to have adequate training documentation.
