On June 18, 2014, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order that resolves violations of the asbestos NESHAP regulations issued under the Clean Air Act. The Idaho Transportation Department violated the regulations by renovating a maintenance shop building without first removing regulated asbestos-containing material, conducting a thorough survey or notifying EPA in advance. It also failed to follow safe work practices and disposal requirements. The company agreed to pay a penalty of $55,800.
