## Summary

On March 4, 2014, the power station's rail-racer (which is a kind of tunnel) failed. causing soils to be washed away creating a sink hole under the facility's transformer which contained 1175 gallons of oil. The transformer fell into the sinkhole. As a result, an estimated 125 gallons of transformer mineral oil spilled into the Deerfield River. The only other spill reported by this facility was a June 1, 2010 release of five gallons of hydraulic oil into the Deerfield River due to improper valve alignment, prior to restoring power to the station after an outage.
