Summary

Region 5 executed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with Criterion Catalysts and Technologies, L.P. of Michigan City, Indiana (Criterion). This CAFO simultaneously commenced and concluded an administrative action alleging violations of Title V and the New Source Performance Standards of the Clean Air Act, specifically the Standards of Performance for Calciners and Dryers in Mineral Industries (40 C.F.R. Part 60, Subpart UUU). Criterion is an international company that supplies catalysts, process technologies and catalysts services for a wide range of refining applications, including ultra-low sulfur diesel production and hydrocracking. All of the alleged violations involved either reporting issues or proper calibration of monitoring equipment; there were no direct emission standards violations; and Criterion promptly corrected the alleged violations.
