On April 5, 2015, Region 10 settled with Essential Oil Research Farm, LLC, d/b/a Young Living Lavender Farms, for violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Respondent owns and operates an underground injection well located at its Young Living Lavender Farm in St. Maries, Idaho, on the Coeur d'Alene Indian Reservation. The injection well is an endangerment to an underground source of drinking water because it disposes of untreated fluids collected through open drains located on the facility's fueling pad that may contain contaminants in concentrations which exceed the maximum contaminant levels established in the primary drinking water regulations. Respondent agreed to close the endangering injection well and pay a $27,440 penalty.
