On December 16, 2014, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Sections 308 and 309 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to Chaparral Energy, LLC (Respondent) located in Osage County, Oklahoma. The AO was issued in response to an unauthorized produced water discharge to a waters of the US resulting in a violation of the CWA. The AO requires the Respondent to: (1) Immediately cease all discharges of pollutants from the facility; (2) remove all produced wastewater from the flow path located between the facility and the discharge point of entry into the tributary; and (3) remove all produced wastewater from the tributary, which was discharged from the facility on or about November 5, 2014. The Respondent must respond to EPA Region 6 within 30 days of receiving the AO.
