## Summary

On December 22, 2016, the United States and State of Alaska entered into a Consent Decree with the City of Palmer, Alaska, resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by the City at its municipal wastewater treatment facility. Between June 2010 and February 2015, the City's facility exceeded NPDES permit limits for ammonia, fecal coliform, flow, pH, biochemical oxygen demand, and total suspended solids over 2,000 times. Under the Consent Decree the City will install new wastewater treatment technology by June 2018 to achieve NPDES permit compliance, and will also implement interim measures to minimize effluent limit violations until the new treatment comes online. The City will also pay a penalty of $96,081 to the United States and $96,081 to the State of Alaska, which includes application of the Municipal Litigation Tables.
