EPA issued an Administrative Consent Order to A&R Custom Chrome Plating in Chicago, Illinois to resolve violations regarding the Illinois State Implementation Plan (SIP), the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Area Source Standards for Plating and Polishing Operations, at 40 C.F.R. Part 63, Subpart WWWWWW, and the NESHAP for Chromium Emissions from Hard and Decorative Chromium Electroplating and Chromium Anodizing Tanks, at 40 C.F.R. Part 63, Subpart N.
Specifically, A&R failed for calendar year 2013 to maintain: (1) monthly records of PM and HAP emissions, with supporting calculations in tons per month and tons per year; (2) annual compliance certifications for its nickel electroplating tanks; and (3) annual compliance certifications for its decorative chromium electroplating tanks. This ACO requires A&R to prepare and maintain the above-mentioned records, and submit them to EPA.
