EPA Region 6 issued an Cease and Desist Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Section 309 of the Clean Water Act (CWA) to Lutex Oil Ltd. (Respondent) located in Caldwell County, Texas. The AO was issued for an unauthorized discharge of oil field brine and produced wastewater to a water of the U.S. The violation was identified during a 02/12/15 inspection conducted by EPA. The AO orders Respondent to: 1) immediately cease all discharges of pollutants from the facility; 2) remove all brine from the flow path located between the facility and the tributary of Salt Branch; and 3) remove all brine from the tributary of Salt Branch. Respondent must respond to EPA within thirty days of receipt of the AO.
