On April 30, 2015, Region 1 signed a consent decree with two potentially responsible parties (PRPs), Maine Mack, Inc. and Sanborn?s Motor Express, Inc./A-P-A Transport Corp., at the West Site/Hows Corner Superfund Site in Plymouth, Maine. Under the consent decree, the two parties will make payments totaling approximately $98,000. The payments will go towards funding of the on-going remedial action at the Site. The remedy at the Site includes construction and operation of a groundwater hydraulic containment system, a technical impracticability waiver for source area groundwater, monitored natural attenuation of non-source area groundwater, and institutional controls. The remedy is being implemented at the Site by PRPs General Electric and Central Maine Power under a 2010 consent decree.
