On August 26, 2015, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by Repsol E&P USA Inc. which occurred when an exploration well ruptured a hose releasing 4.1 to 12.8 barrels of well testing fluids, including crude oil, over 1.22 acres of tundra located in the Colville River Delta, North Slope, Alaska. Another approximate 90 barrels was discharged to secondary containment. The Delta area is a sensitive ecosystem, providing subsistence resources to North Slope residents. Respondent agreed to pay a $30,500 penalty.
