## Summary

An EPA investigation, conducted primarily in April 2012, revealed nearly 200 incidents in which diesel-powered trucks idled for more than three minutes at a time while on terminal property in violation of NJAC 7:27-14.3 which is part of the EPA-approved CAA SIP for the State of New Jersey. The terminal operator will take a number of measures to reduce engine idling at the terminals, including installation of anti-idling signs at many designated locations, providing reminders to drivers at entry gates and security checkpoints, and a variety of other driver education efforts to emphasize the idling restrictions, as well as contribute $200,000 to the City of Newark for green infrastructure projects in areas of the city that are most impacted by air emissions from port operations.
