On June 9, 2015, Region 5 reached an agreement in principle with Ricerca Biosciences, LLC. EPA inspected Ricerca Biosciences, LLC in November 2011. The inspection was followed by a Notice of Violation on September 12, 2012. Ricerca documented its compliance with the hazardous waste management standards for large quantity generators and owners/operators of storage facilities and universal waste handlers at 40 C.F.R. parts 262, 264/265, and 273 before a Notice of Intent to File an Administrative Civil Complaint letter was mailed on March 2, 2015. Ricerca asserted an inability to pay the penalty and provided supportive documents. The final penalty is $5,000.
