EPA SEEKS TO INITATE CIVIL LITIGATION AGAINST SLAWSON FOR VIOLAITONS OF THE FEDERAL IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR OIL AND NATURAL GAS WELL PRODUCTION FACILITIES, WHICH APPLIES TO SUCH FACILITIES LOCATED ON THE FORT BERTHOLD INDIAN RESERVATION IN NORTH DAKOTA, AND FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE NORTH DAKOTA STATE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN PROVISIONS, WHICH RESTRICT ORGANIC COMPOUNDS EMISSIONS FROM FACILITIES LOCATED ON NON-TRIBAL LAND IN NORTH DAKOTA.
EPA and the Department of Justice entered into a judicial consent decree with Slawson Exploration Company, Inc., that will identify and address issues relating to inadequate design, operation, and maintenance of vapor control systems used to control emissions from Slawson?s storage tank batteries at oil and natural gas production well pads in North Dakota.
