On August 6, 2018, a stipulated order for judgement was granted by the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho, that resolves Clean Water Act violations by Sunroc Corporation at its Clements Concrete sand and gravel production facility located on the Boise River in Boise, Idaho. Recurring violations spanned a four-year period and included unpermitted discharges of sediment-laden process water, from the facility?s gravel washing and concrete washout processes, into a section of the Boise River impaired for sediment. Other violations included a complete failure to follow the requirements of the facility?s EPA issued multi-sector general permit regulating industrial stormwater discharges. As part of this settlement, Sunroc demonstrated to EPA and DOJ that it has resolved these violations and is ordered to pay a penalty of $425,000. This settlement ensures compliance with the Clean Water Act, associated NPDES permit requirements, and water quality standards designed to protect the surrounding water quality of one of the most economically and ecological important waterbodies in Idaho?s Treasure Valley.
