On February 26, 2016, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order resolving violations of RCRA by Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. The violations include failure to identify if wastes generated in laboratories, during maintenance and other activities, are hazardous wastes. Respondent also failed manage hazardous wastes, used oil and universal wastes properly. The violations were identified during a joint EPA/Oregon Department of Environmental Quality inspection in June 2013. Respondent agreed to properly identify and manage the wastes it generates, and to pay a $275,000 penalty.
