On December 30, EIP Region 1 filed with the Regional Hearing Clerk an Expedited Settlement Agreement ( ESA ) with Hannaford Brothers Company of Portland, Maine, for alleged violations of Section 112(r) of the Clean Air Act. The ESA penalty was calculated under a national expedited settlement program, which is intended to apply to relataively minor, easity correctable Risk Management Plan violations. Hannaford uses anhydrous ammonia in its refrigeration system. The facility has corrected the violations and paid a penalty of $13,500.
