On June 2, 2016, EPA Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order with BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc. to address violations of Section 311(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act. The violation occurred on April 28, 2014, when Respondent spilled approximately 17 barrels of crude oil and water at its Prudhoe Bay Western Operating Area on the North Slope of Alaska. Respondent agreed to pay a federal penalty of $30,000 which will go to the federal Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund.
