On September 27, 2016 OECAs Air Enforcement Division settled with Golden Eagle Farms LP to address violations of Title II of the Clean Air Act. In June 2016, Respondent, located in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, imported three tractors containing uncertified diesel engines. Vehicle engines without required emission controls produce more air pollution. By preventing the importation of illegal engines, Region 10 provides a deterrent to the practice and removes the economic benefit of circumventing the emission requirements for engines. In settlement, the company paid a penalty of $16,000 and exported the equipment outside of the U.S., Canada and Mexico pursuant to Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security procedures.
