This case addresses violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) by Precision Automotive and Diesel ( Precision ) an automobile repair shop located in Hampton, New Jersey. On September 16, 2014, EPA inspectors found that Precision had installed a device designed to defeat emission controls (a defeat device ) on one vehicle.
As part of the settlement with EPA, Precision paid a $1,053 civil penalty and agreed to refrain from selling or installing defeat devices.
