On September 28, 2016, Region 2 signed a Settlement Agreement for Recovery of Past Response Costs under CERCLA 122(h) in which the Settling Parties will pay $582,047.35, plus interest through the date of payment, for EPA's past costs at the Fulton Avenue Superfund Site in the Towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead, Nassau County, New York. The accrued interest will be in excess of $65,000. In this settlement, EPA will recover 100% of its past response costs paid at or in connection with the first operable unit (OU1) at the Site through February 29, 2008. OU1 response costs paid by EPA on or after March 1, 2008, will be reimbursed by Genesco pursuant to a consent judgment entered on August 15, 2016.
