On September 29, 2016 a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) was filed resolving violations of the Asbestos Hazards Emergency Response Act ( AHERA ) under the Toxic Substances Control Act ( TSCA ). Ridley School District ( Ridley ) is located in Folsom, Pennsylvania. During an inspection performed by the Environmental Protection Agency, Region III ( EPA ) on August 22, 2013 at the Ridley Local Education Agency office in Folsom, PA as well as Woodlyn Elementary School in Woodlyn, PA, violations of AHERA were found. Failure to notify about the availability of the management plan, failure to maintain asbestos management plans, failure to perform inspections, failure to train a designated person and failure to provide asbestos awareness training to maintenance personnel. For these violations, Ridley was assessed a penalty of $12,750 and spent $11,881 district-wide to comply with AHERA regulations since August 2013. The cash component of Ridley?s penalty will be $869. Ridley has 9 schools with 5,778 students and approximately 850 employees.
