Jones-Owens Company, doing business as South Silver Creek I, II & III was issued an Administrative Order (AO) in 2011 by the EPA for violating the maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for radium 226, radium 228 and gross alpha in the public drinking water supply. On September 27, 2016, the EPA issued a revised AO to the Jones-Owens Company that includes a schedule for installing treatment that will comply with the MCLs. South Silver Creek will participate in plans for the Corix-LCRA regional surface water treatment plant, which will also address drinking water deficiencies in the Lake Buchanan area. In addition to that long term plan, Corix and South Silver Creek I, II & III water system have executed a letter of intent for Corix to purchase this water system. Once purchased by Corix, the South Silver Creek I, II & III water system will be owned by a well-funded, international company with expertise and experience in the manufacture, design and maintenance of municipal and industrial water treatment plants.
