On April 7, 2017, Region 10 issued six unilateral administrative orders to the Nooksack Indian Tribe which require returning six public water systems owned and operated by the Tribe to comply with the SDWA. The orders are effective upon receipt. The violations differ at each system, but generally concern the Tribe's failure to: (1) complete required monitoring for certain drinking water contaminants; (2) correct significant deficiencies identified at the drinking water systems following on-site sanitary surveys; and (3) notify system customers about these violations. The public water systems subject to the six orders together serve about 700 full time residents, employees, and 900 casino customers.
