On July 27, 2017, EPA Region 10 settled with Suterra LLC in Bend, Oregon, to resolve alleged violations of FIFRA. Suterra imported three different pesticide products: Z-9-hexadecenal pheromone, Z-11-hexadecenal pheromone and Z-13-hexadecenal pheromone. At the time of distribution, the products were misbranded. Specifically, the products lacked key contents required by the statute and EPA regulations, including directions for use, hazard and precautionary statements, ingredient statements, and net contents. These pheromones work as pesticides by disrupting mating of certain pest moths. The company agreed to pay a penalty of $9,900.
