EPA issued this Order for Compliance requiring the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority to take all necessary measures to cease all unauthorized discharges to the San Juan River at its Shiprock Lift Station, and to take all reasonable steps to minimize or prevent the discharge of untreated wastewater to the San Juan River, monitor the river water for evidence of sewage contamination, prohibit public access, notify the public of the spill and keep the EPA informed of all activities pertaining to the spill.
