EPA Region 2 issued a unilateral administrative order under Section 106(a) of CERCLA, directing the Respondents to abate significant threats posed by friable asbestos at the Beechnut Nutrition Corp. Superfund Site in the Village of Canajoharie, Montgomery County, NY. Under the order, the Respondents are required to, among other things, remove outdoor asbestos-laden piles of debris created during prior building demolitions, and secure asbestos located on exterior walls of numerous buildings at this 29-acre abandoned site.
