On June 8, 2017, Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with Mr. Anesti Audeh, to address underground storage tank (UST) rule violations at his facility (AMA Mini Mart #1) in Klamath Falls, OR. Mr. Audeh failed to monitor the tank at least every 30 days for releases and provide operator training. Failure to monitor an underground storage tank every 30 days may allow leaks to go undetected, potentially resulting in costly and harmful soil and groundwater contamination. Failure to provide operator training potentially can lead to the same result of costly and harmful soil and groundwater contamination as the station operator does not have the training required to address leak alarms or spills that may occur. Corrective actions taken under this settlement to properly operate and maintain the UST system helps prevent up to 25,000 gallons of gasoline (three tanks) and 5,000 gallons of diesel (one tank) from being released to the environment. Mr. Audeh agreed to pay a $16,438 penalty.
