Summary

On May 18, 2017, Region 1 entered into an Administrative Order on Consent with the Town of Belmont, Massachusetts regarding the Town?s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4). The Order requires the Town to complete IDDE investigations of all sub-catchment areas discharging from the Town?s MS4, and eliminate all unauthorized discharges from the Town's MS4 (except as circumstances require alternative schedules for removal of illicit discharges), within five years of the effective date of the Order. The Town is required to conduct Capacity, Management, Operation, and Maintenance (CMOM) evaluation of its sanitary sewer system and submit a CMOM Corrective Action Plan for EPA approval. The Town must submit a Geographic Information System map of the Town?s collection system and MS4.
