On March 28, 2017, Region 1 issued a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) both initiating and resolving an action for violations of TSCA and the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule against K Falls Construction, LLC of Hartford, Connecticut, a general contracting business. K Falls Construction was charged with violating the following RRP requirements: failure to (1) assign a certified renovator; (2) obtain initial firm certification; (3) maintain renovation records; and (4) cover the ground before beginning work. Because K Falls Construction is a micro-business, this case was handled under EPA?s Pilot RRP Program for Micro-Businesses. Under the CAFO, K Falls Construction will pay a penalty of $2,130, and come into compliance with the RRP Rule. The resolution of this case will help an economically disadvantaged community reduce childhood exposure to lead paint.
