On May 23, 2017, EPA Region III entered into a Consent Agreement and Final Order ( CAFO ) with United States Department of Navy at a federally owned/operated facility known as the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center ( NFPC ) for violations of the Clean Air Act. The NFPC is a foundry that produces propellers for the United States Department of the Navy. NFPC failed to maintain multiple records required by their Title V Operating Permit. The facility is a Title V facility because it is a major stationary source of air pollutants that has the potential to emit 100 tons or more per year of nitrogen oxides. EPA and NFPC have agreed to resolve NFPC's liability for these violations through implementation of the required recordkeeping and a cash penalty of $182,787.
