This case concerns the sale and installation of emissions control defeat devices by Boost Diesel Repair LLC (Boost) in 15 vehicles. A defeat device is a product which renders emission controls inoperative in EPA-certified motor vehicles. Section 203(a) of the Clean Air Act prohibits both sale and installation of defeat devices.
Boost paid a $100 civil penalty and agreed to refrain from purchasing, selling and installing defeat devices.
