The Consent Agreement will commence and settle an enforcement action against the Respondent, which owns and operates a polystyrene manufacturing facility located in Haskell, New Jersey. Execution of the CAFO will resolve the civil administrative action against the company for violations of the New Jersey state implementation plan (NJSIP) and a permit issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). In this matter, the Region and the Respondent have agreed to settle this case for a civil penalty of $65,000 payable over three years, and injunctive relief whereby Respondent will install a thermal oxidizer to control volatile organic compounds emissions.
