On October 4, 2017, EPA Region 6 issued an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) to Omega Wire addressing violations of RCRA hazardous waste generator requirements. Data from a Texas treatment, storage and disposal facility showed that the facility, although registered as a small quantity generator of hazardous waste, had operated as a large quantity generator subject to the hazardous waste generator requirements to provide employee training, first responder notification and meet the applicable notification, reporting and waste management requirements. The AOC addressed the company?s failure to properly notify and meet the requirements of a large quantity generator. Subsequent to the 2013 data flagging the violations and prior to EPA?s 2016 investigation, Omega Wire stopped operations. The AOC requires Omega Wire to certify and document compliance with the RCRA requirements applicable to its current operational status including facility closure activities.
