An Opportunity to Confer Letter was sent to the City of Chesapeake Virginia on May 4, 2017. As a result of EPA?s inspection and negotiations, the City has hired additional construction site inspectors, identified high-risk municipal facilities, provided additional training to City employees regarding vehicle washing and has committed to conduct dry-weather screenings at 50 outfalls this year. EPA memorialized the negotiations in an Administrative Order on Consent. There is no penalty associated with this action. State representatives accompanied EPA on the inspection and were provided with a copy of the inspection report. The State was notified of the final settlement resolution on July 20, 2017.
