Cimarex Energy Company owned and operated an oil field production facility known as the Assault SWD, located in Orla, Culberson County, Texas. The facility, which was inspected by EPA on August 9-10, 2017, discharged brine and produced water to waters of the U.S. without obtaining permit coverage. The inspector determined that the water located at the discharge points of entry flowed to the Delaware River and was contaminated with brine discharges.
