On December 4, 2017, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by the City of Nezperce, Idaho. Respondent, which operates a wastewater treatment plant, exceeded its NPDES permit limits for E. coli, total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total residual chlorine (TRC), and pH. The City agreed to pay a penalty of $6,500. This enforcement action will result in a reduction in the quantity of harmful pollutants entering the Clearwater River and will improve the River's ability to support cold-water aquatic life and primary contact recreation.
