On December 8, 2017, Region 5 filed a CAFO to commence and conclude an administrative civil action against Respondent for alleged violations of the RRP Rule. Specifically, Respondent performed a renovation project at a residence in Traverse City, Michigan, without first obtaining from EPA the firm certification required under 40 C.F.R. Section 745.89. Respondent also failed to comply with lead safe work practice standards required under 40 C.F.R. Section 745.85. The Respondent and EPA agreed to resolve the matter with the payment of a civil penalty in the amount of $980.
