On March 27, 2018, EPA issued a Clean Water Act Administrative Order to the Town of Northbridge, Massachusetts for violations of the zinc and aluminum effluent limits in its NPDES Discharge permit. The Town owns and operates a wastewater treatment plant and collection system that discharges to a tributary of the Blackstone River. EPA Region 1 implements the NPDES program in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection participated in the development of the terms of order.
